The image on the front of this box was first published in Shots Magazine in 2015. The original photo is a silver gelatin print, processed to create a unique, discolored and dappled effect.
I thought the image would make an awesome box, and so here it is! This box was created in 2015, so is relatively new. But it already has a bit of a history! It was selected for "Photography Reimagined" at Tilt Gallery in 2015, and won an honorable mention. Before sending it to the gallery, I needed to sign it and attach the antique doll form to the back wall. I took out the doll, and never saw it again. Yep, it disappeared! I'm sure one of my kittens took it outside and had a blast with it, and maybe one day I will find it (or some telltale pile of sawdust and fabric) under a random bush. The second doll is also cool, but probably a bit prettier and to be honest, I liked the beat up quality of the first one better.
